Privacy policy

Encore is built to help you discover live music without turning your listening into an advertising profile.

Last updated 22 August 2026.

What Encore processes

You can search, browse and play without an account. If you choose Google sign-in, Encore requests basic OpenID, email and profile information through its managed authentication provider. The Encore application stores the verified account identifier needed to keep your playlists, saved performances, ranking choices, role, account status and playback preferences separate from other users.

Encore does not request access to your YouTube account, YouTube history, contacts, files or Google Drive.

How Google sign-in data is used

Google sign-in data is used only to authenticate you and associate Encore features with your account. Encore does not sell this data, use it for advertising or share it for unrelated purposes.

Public and anonymous activity

Performance-quality tags use a random signed browser cookie. Encore stores a one-way identifier, not the raw cookie or your raw IP address. Aggregate, cookie-free traffic measurements help understand whether the service is being used; search terms and song URLs are removed before analytics events are sent. When a visitor deliberately opens a song or starts playback, Encore keeps the song, current performance id, action and timestamp for up to 90 days. These product-use counts contain no account id, profile, cookie id or raw IP address; the owner’s own activity is marked only so it can be excluded.

YouTube playback and performance information

Playback uses YouTube’s official embedded player and search uses the YouTube Data API. Encore may process a public YouTube video to derive compact information such as content type, approximate musical start time, performance setting and atmosphere. Encore does not download the video, store its audio, retain lyrics or retain a complete transcript. YouTube’s own privacy policy also applies when its player is used.

Retention

YouTube-derived search metadata and automated performance profiles are deleted or refreshed within 30 days. Rate-limit records expire with their short enforcement windows. Security audit entries are retained for up to one year. Account-owned saves, playlists, recommendations and preferences are kept until you remove them or delete your Encore app data.

Recently explored keeps up to eight songs for 30 days in your browser's local storage. This list is never sent to Encore, works without an account and can be removed with the Clear action on the home shelf or your browser's storage controls.

Your choices and control

You can use the discovery and playback experience without signing in. From Account, a signed-in user can remove Encore playlists, saves, ranking choices and settings. Deleting Encore app data does not delete the underlying Google account.

Service providers

Encore relies on Vercel for hosting and aggregate analytics, Neon for database and managed authentication services, Google for sign-in and YouTube services, and optional metadata-analysis providers used by the ranking pipeline. These providers process only the information needed to deliver their part of the service under their own terms.
